I Belong

“I belong!” Such incredibly powerful words. Not all children feel a sense of belonging. Some children come from fractured homes where relationships are complicated, where they feel more lost than that they belong.

God has a lot to say about belonging. Firstly, He created us in HIS image. Father Son and Holy Spirit were present at creation, speaking out in Genesis 1:27, “Let us make man in our image!” You can almost hear the excitement of the Father in those words at the creation of us His kids! John 14:23 further unpacks this idea of belonging in these words, ““All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.” We were created with love and that love manifests itself in the Godhead making a home within us. Such beautiful inclusivity and unity.

We were created with love and that love manifests itself in the Godhead.

At Kids Kare Center we have a number of kids on campus who come from all different backgrounds and expressions of family and home.  And we stand committed to reflect God’s ideal of belonging rooted in love. I see it everyday when I watch our teachers champion their little ones in the classroom or on the playground, teaching skills that strengthen inclusivity in play and belonging among friendships. I see it in our after-school care program, where children are interacting with one another and working on team based activities. Belonging rooted in love and strengthened intentionally through healthy relationships pleases God. May every child at KKC say with confidence, “I belong!!”
