God has A LOT to say about unity!

1Corinthians 1:10 “I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.”

John 17:21 “That they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”

John 13:34-35 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Unity happens when we love one another in the same way Christ loves His Church, and gave Himself up for her. It’s a sacrificial love. It’s a love that costs.

Unity is oneness of spirit. Unity will manifest itself through diversity, but those diverse expressions are wrapped within having the mind of Christ.  When we take on the mind of Christ, holding and outworking His values and ways in our relationships, then we experience oneness with others. Humility is a massive key; almost like the glue that makes unity work. Humility prefers others better than ourselves. Humility does not insist on being right. Humility is the mechanism by which we look to Jesus and express ourselves in the ways that He does.

God has A LOT to say about unity!

At KKC, we work intentionally at training our students to love one another in the ways that Christ loves us. We teach our students that to love God, there has to be an outworking of tangibly showing love to others. Let’s continue this earnest work of actively choosing the highest good of another person, in the same way our students do…that the world may see our beautiful witness and desire to do the same!
