Children in the toddler classroom learn to participate in large and small groups as well as individual activities. They are encouraged to gain independence as they explore their environment.

During this age of development, independence leads to many different behaviors. Some toddlers are learning to communicate through words but the most typical way for them to communicate is through actions. The teachers in the classroom teach appropriate actions such as hugs, sharing, smiles, etc. We discourage inappropriate actions such as hitting, pulling hair, tantrums and biting. Our ultimate goal is to figure out where this action is coming from and work together to eliminate the action.

During toilet training, we will strive to coordinate home and center efforts. Our working goal with the parents is that all toddlers are bathroom independent before entering the preschool program.
